Android Most Popular Among First Time Buyers
According to a recent report released by the major analytics firm NPD, Android devices are the choice of first time buyers in the US.
The firm took into account the first time buyers of smartphones in the US from October to December 2011. It found out that 57 percent opted for Android devices, 37 percent picked up iOS and under 10 percent chose other categories. When considering all smartphone buyers, Android still came up on top with 48 percent of the market over 43 percent belonging to the users of iOS.
Thus, Android has attracted a lot of new consumers and taken a strong lead ahead of others in the market. Android devices may be popular among first time buyers as they are cheaper, available across a wide range of carriers and have a variety of smartphones running on the Android system.
Its pretty clear that Android continues to grow in the US market despite the belief that it is over- saturated. Android and iOS are still dominating the market, having a bigger share than other devices like Windows Phone or Blackberry.
