Motorola and Nextel Launch Motorola i867 Android PTT Smartphone
Motorola and Nextel have recently released a new Android powered Push-To-Talk smartphone for iDEN, namely Motorola i867. This smartphone is currently available in Brazil through Nextel.
The Integrated Digital Enhanced Network (iDEN) technology offers Push-To-Talk two-way radio, cellular service, mobile Web access and text and picture messaging in a single device. It enables high performance communication.
Wagner Mendonca, iDEN sales director for Motorola Mobility Brazil said, “Whether you choose the i867 for work, play or both, the Motorola i867 lets you manage it all with best-in-class PTT and Android.”
The main feature of this device is that it is powered by Android 2.1. It also sports a 3.1 inch touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, music player, Bluetooth stereo technology, a 3.5 millimeter stereo headset jack and a 3-megapixel camera. Images, video and music can be stored in the attached 2 GB microSD HC memory card. The device also provides direct access to some social networking sites and Google services like Google Search, GTalk, Google Maps and Navigator GPS.
Fernando Mode, marketing manager of Nextel said, “The i867 is yet another addition to the Nextel smartphone portfolio. The new handset is a versatile tool that meets the needs of today’s demanding connected consumer who is not prepared to sacrifice design. It combines Android smartphone technology with Nextel’s suite of push-to-talk services.”
The device will be available for $899 and at a promotional price of $499 with a data plan through Nextel sales channels.
