MacroDroid – Utilize Your Smart Device to the Fullest
How many of us have harnessed the power of our Android devices to the fullest? Truly speaking, I have not. But I have wondered many times if I could alter the device’s controls and customize the settings according to my preferences. To my relief, I found this great app named ‘MacroDroid’ in Google Play which provides exactly what I want.
What is the app about?
MacroDroid is an automation tool app which lends a flexible control over Android devices. It provides a lot of advanced automation features to adjust our device’s functionality. The app is very simple to use, as it lists out the choices in an appealing user interface. It helps users execute their preferred actions easily, in a step-by- step manner.
MacroDroid allows you to:
Shake the device to upload the last photo to Facebook
Turn on WiFi when you launch a specific app (off when it is closed)
Respond to an incoming SMS by sending your current location.
This app consists of 20 different triggers, 20 different actions and 10 different constraints. ‘Trigger’ refers to the event (for eg, an incoming call) which occurs in the device; ‘action’ refers to the actual action (for eg, setting a wallpaper) which is executed once the event is triggered and ‘constraints’ are the conditions (for eg, a particular day of a week) under which an action is to be performed. The well-explained tutorial in MacroDroid is very helpful for first time users.
Functionality of the app:
MacroDroid consists of 6 menu items in the homescreen such as List Macros, Add Macros, View Template, Settings, Help and Upgrade. The List Macros option has the list of currently configured macros. You can edit, delete or disable any macros from the list. Using Add Macros, you can create a custom macro by configuring the settings of a trigger. Actions and constraints can be chosen according to your requirement.
MacroDroid also has a list of template macros that can be used as it is or customized to your needs. In the free version, the app is limited to creating only three macros with a single action and constraint for each. But you can upgrade to the pro version to enjoy unlimited macros and up to 10 actions and constraints per macro.
The app requires an Android version of 2.3.3 and above.
