What’s the app about?

It is completely based on graphics and this attribute is bound to fascinate kids. The theme of the app is quite attractive and it provides kids with a better understanding of the solar system.

How does the app work?

You have to start your travel using the menu button and then select a location that you want to reach, such as a planet, the moon or the sun. While viewing the planets, you can click on the encyclopedia option to know about its radius, mass, orbit and its rotation. The map option assists you in knowing about the inner planets, asteroid belt, outer planets, Kuiper belt, Sedna etc. The facts presented in this app are really interesting as there are details about how various planets were discovered, what they are made up of, and much more. Pocket Planets gives you the thrill of traveling around in a galaxy, making you want to explore the app several times.

The app not only offers information on the regular planets, but provides descriptions of Orcus, Varuna, Ceres, Pallas, Haumea and other asteroids and dwarf planets that most of us aren’t familiar with. There are many camera modes available in the app to take a closer look at the working of the solar system.

I felt that the user interface of the app could have been improved for better navigation. The app crashes at times and this bug needs to be fixed to enhance its efficiency. Apart from this, the app is a useful educational tool that has a lot of facts to offer about the galaxy.
